Steamboat Springs Family Getaway Summer 09

August 14-16, 2009 Chad and I decided we needed a little vaca before the summer was over so we headed to Steamboat for a 2-night stay at a sweet 2-bedroom condo practically on the slopes. (See the gondola from our view?)

My parents got to come along for one night to share in the fun and celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

Outside the F&M Light western shop there was a horse. So Chad started taking pictures while I was waiting in line to buy Evan a cowboy hat. But before I could even pay for it...

it was taken outside so that we could get a picture with Evan in his hat on the horse. (Thank goodness the clerk was understanding and let me take off the tag so that they could take the hat.)

On Sat. we had a lot of rain, but while driving around to see if we could make a camp fire somewhere we happened upon the Steamboat Springs. You know the ones the city is named after? Anyway, it was a cute park and we saw 3 of the 7 springs.

One of the springs used to bubble up on this spot, but the flow was disrupted when they built the highway so they built a gazebo around it. By the way, we were looking for a place to build a camp fire so that we could introduce Evan to S'mores. This park would have been the perfect place because it had lots of grills, but everything was wet from the rain so our fire lasted long enough to roast 1 marshmallow before the newspaper ran out and Evan blew it out. At least Evan got to eat that.

What's left of the spring.

This is what the springs are supposed to look like. They were pretty, but man did they stink!

The weather was beautiful on Sun. so we headed up the mountain in the gondola.

Our easy hike was too difficult for our tired ready-for-nap time boy. This was the 1st time I've heard him asked to be carried.

Even though he didn't take a nap, he was ready to bounce at the bottom of the gondola in the jumping castle!

Evan's 2nd Birthday Party Blue's Clues Style

Love the paw print cake. Thank you to Jen and Mom for decorating it.

He couldn't wait to get some cake. We couldn't contain him any longer.

Giving cousin Brooke a big hug. Evan loves to hug.

He got a jumping castle from his parents, grandparents and a couple of aunts and uncles.

Everyone was supposed to take a picture in the "Thinking Chair", but somehow we missed Jen. What the heck!?

Some of my decorations. If you've ever seen Blue's Clues you might recognize some of these things.

Dancing at the Rockies Game

Evan danced so much that at one point we looked down to see him in his diaper. He danced his pants right off!

Evan's 2nd Birthday 7/3/09

Some highlights from the Rockies' Game. Trying to get a great video of Evan dancing downloaded, but it's not working. It's priceless. (BTW, Rockies won 5-0.)

Evan Turns Two!

Yesterday was Evan's birthday. It started early when we met my friend Jamie at the park to take some pictures. They look great and she even got a few of them posted on http://www.charismatapics.blogspot.com/ before she left for Guatamala. Then we took the lightrail to the Rockies game.

Aboard the U.S.S. Midway.

Not too sure what we're doing.

A little worried about the spiny ride.
